A typing test made for thumbs

What Thumbster is

Most typing tests were designed for a keyboard and ten fingers. Thumbster is designed for a phone. You get one minute, a stream of everyday words and a score: your words per minute, your accuracy and your errors. No account is needed to play.

If you want to keep your scores, you can claim a username. Then you get a personal best, a place on the leaderboards, and a link you can send to challenge a friend.

How it works

• One minute. The clock starts when you type the first letter and stops at 60 seconds.
• Fair scoring. Only correct characters count towards your speed, and fixing a mistake does not hide it. The details are in how typing speed is measured.
• Phones only for rankings. You can practise on any device, but only scores typed on a phone are official. See what makes an official score.

What we care about

• It should be fun. Quick to start, quick to finish, and better with friends.
• It should be fair. Scores are worked out on our server, and the leaderboards only include official phone scores.
• It should respect you. We ask for very little: an email address to sign in and a username. We do not ask for your age, gender or precise location, and we do not sell personal data. The privacy policy says exactly what we keep.
• It should not eat your day. Race your friends. Beat your score. Then give your thumbs a break.
